Katherine Hren is Senior Counsel with the firm and practices exclusively in the area of labor and employment law of behalf of management. Ms. Hren received her bachelors degree from the University of California, Irvine, and her Juris Doctor, with distinction, from the University of the Pacific McGeorge School of Law, and is a member of the Order of the Coif.
Ms. Hrens practice includes representation of employers in all matters which bear upon the employee/employer relationship. She routinely provides advice and counsel to employers on the entire spectrum of employment and labor law matters, including hiring inquiries, avoidance of litigation, personnel policies and procedures, terminations, leaves of absence, wage-hour issues, reductions in force and traditional labor relations including union organizing, collective bargaining, grievance handling and arbitration. Ms. Hrens work includes advice on employment law strategy and compliance, as well as litigation.
Ms. Hren also assists clients in developing management oriented employment agreements, personnel policies, trade secret and proprietary information agreements and other routine employment forms, including employee handbooks, compliance forms, employment applications and disciplinary notices.
Ms. Hren is a frequent public speaker. As part of the firms preventative practice, she designs and presents customized internal management training programs on a broad range of employment law matters. She routinely conducts sexual harassment training programs and other seminars designed to provide management tools on a spectrum of employment law matters. Ms. Hren has conducted lectures and seminars throughout California and has been a recognized speaker at events sponsored by the California Employment Development Department, the California Employer Advisory Council and other employment-related groups. She has twice served as the committee chair at the annual employment law program of the California CPA Society and has repeatedly been the featured speaker on wage and hour law compliance.
Ms. Hren was recognized as a Southern California Rising Star attorney by Los Angeles Magazine and the Journal of Law and Politics in 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009. She was elected to and served a three year term on the Board of Directors for the State Bar of California, California Young Lawyers Association, between 2005 and 2008. Ms. Hren is a member of the California Bar Association, the American Bar Association and the Traynor Honor Society.
