MEAL AND REST PERIODS AFTER THE BRINKER CASE:

STRATEGIES FOR LIMITING EXPOSURE TO COSTLY WAGE HOUR CLAIMS

Earlier this year, the California Court of Appeal decided the very favorable Brinker Restaurant case. (Brinker Case)  Though  the case made it considerably easier for employers to comply with the state's meal and rest period regulations, the California Supreme Court has accepted the case for review.  A Supreme Court decision is not expected for a year or more.  With the law in a state of flux, the California Labor Commissioner just announced enforcement guidelines which will apply while we await the Supreme Court's ruling.

In our Webinar, we will cover the following topics:

-  The current law of meal and rest periods;
-  The 5 most common compliance mistakes;
-  How Brinker changed the landscape for
   employers;
-  Policies and practices that the Labor
   Commissioner considers compliant;
-  Compliance Strategies:  What to do while
   awaiting the Supreme Court's ruling

How Do Webinars Work?

 Webinars are cost-effective and convenient.  You participate in the the comfort of your office using your personal computer, a regular telephone and your access code.  Plus, for one low fee, you can have as many people participate as you can fit around a speakerphone.  This teleconference will run for approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes with a Q&A toward the end.  During the speaker presentation portion of the conference, registrants are in a "listen-only" mode.  After the presentation portion is concluded, there is an interactive Q&A session.  Questions can also be submitted via e-mail at any time during the conference to be responded to during the Q&A session.

How Will We Receive The Program Materials?

Once your registration is confirmed, you will receive an e-mail with a pdf attachment from us containing program materials.  All webinars will be delivered with a PowerPoint presentation which you can watch from your desktop computer using your access code.

Registration Fee:  $189.00 - unlimited listeners per phone line (NO conference calls please).

Prepayment is required to receive your access code.
