In June, 2010, partner Eric Schwettmann and senior counsel Katherine Hren were selected as 2010 Super Lawyers “Rising Stars” in the Employment and Labor Category. This honor is bestowed by the Journal of Law and Politics, in conjunction with Los Angeles Magazine. On May 5, 2010, Partner Matt Wakefield was a Speaker on collective bargaining challenges at the Hospitality Asset Managers Association (HAMA) conference in Denver, Colorado. In May, 2010, California’s two legal newspapers announced that named partner Linda Miller Savitt was selected as one of the Top 100 Women Litigators in all of California. This important recognition came after the publications solicited nominations for the honor from among attorneys throughout the state. In February, 2010, partners Ken Ballard, Richard Rosenberg, John Golper and Linda Miller Savitt and senior counsel Christine Hoeffner were selected as 2010 Southern California Super Lawyers. This honor is bestowed by the Journal of Law and Politics, in conjunction with Los Angeles Magazine. Ken, Rich, John and Linda have received this honor in their specialty of labor/employment law ever since the award was first created in 2006. Christine holds the state’s certification as an appellate specialist. This is Christine’s 2nd year in a row as an honoree for appellate law. Linda Savitt also was recognized with two additional honors: Top 100 lawyers in Southern California and Top 50 female women lawyers. Law Firm. U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission Ordered to Pay $1,022,653.69 in Attorneys’ Fees and Expenses to a Pasadena Immigration Law Firm. Partner Linda Miller Savitt successfully defended at trial the law firm Robert L. Reeves & Associates against a lawsuit filed by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. The EEOC sued the firm for sexual harassment and pregnancy discrimination. In a 17-page written ruling, U.S. District Judge Dickran Tevrizian found that the EEOC’s lawsuit “was unreasonable, frivolous and without foundation.” John J. Manier, a senior counsel with Ballard, Rosenberg, Golper & Savitt, prepared the briefs in support of Reeves’ request for fees and expenses. Click here for the complete article
